The 4th Sichuan International Travel Expo Kicks off in Leshan

The 4th edition of the Sichuan International Travel Expo kicked off Sunday September 17th in the city of Leshan and is set to last until Sunday September 24th 2017.

More than 2000 representatives from 74 different countries and regions are taking part in this weeklong exhibition. The signing of contracts is estimated to reach 68.5 billion yuan.

The expo presents tourism resources from China with an emphasis on Sichuan province; home to the giant panda, as well as those from the rest of the world.

Issues surrounding tourism trade and services as well as travel products will be tackled in addition to the Emei Summit which will also be held to further discuss tourism cooperation.

Autumn folk music and poem festival under the theme 'Emei Mountains and the Moon' will also be held from September 23 to 24. .

Leshan has two world natural and cultural heritage sites; the Leshan Giant Buddha and Mount Emei. City authorities are also expected to negotiate 19 other projects with its partners at the expo with contract signings that could potentially amount to 39.6 billion yuan.

The main highlight for this year's expo is Australia with nearly one million visitors expected to attend this event.
