1. By Air
Mt. Emei Scenic Area is close to four major airports in Chengdu, Mianyang, Yibin and Chongqing, and there are plenty of domestic and international flights every day . Mt. Emei is just 120 km away from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (“Shuangliu Airport”) and it only takes 90 minutes by driving on the expressway. There is no bus directly from Shuangliu Airport to Mt. Emei, but you can take a taxi which will cost you RMB200-300. You may also take the airport shuttle bus to Minjiang Hotel located in the downtown area of Chengdu City, which will take you RMB10, or spend RMB40-50 to take a taxi. Then take a 10-minute walk from Minjiang Hotel to Xinnanmen Tourist Transport Center, and take a tourist bus directly to Mt. Emei Scenic Area. You may also share a taxi with another three tourists, with RMB60 for each person.
2. By Train
Emei Station is a main station on the Chengdu-Kunming Railway, a major trunkline railroad in southwestern China. Tourists can take K145, K113, K165 for Kunming or K117 for Panzhihua and get off at Emei Railway Station, which is 10 km from Mt. Emei Scenic Area or 15-minute-ride away. Tourists may also go to Chengdu Railway Station by train, and take a bus to Chengdu Xinnanmen Tourist Transport Center to reach the scenic area by tourist bus.

3. By High-Speed Train
Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan High-Speed Rail connects Mianyang City, Chengdu City and Leshan City, with its main line extending for 314.04 kilometers. There are 20 stations along the route and major stations including Mianyang, Deyang, Guanghan, Chengdu, Shuangliu Airport, Meishan, Leshan and Emeishan Station. It only takes 1 hour from Leshan and Mianyang to Chengdu respectively, while it takes 2 hours from Mianyang to Emeishan Station. The train adopts a new marshalling system that eight carriages make up a train. The viaducts are enclosed, and bolt-free heavy steel rails with elastic fastening are applied to the seamless tracks, such that the influence by noise and vibration generated during operation will be weaker than the existing old ones. Currently, there are 26 shifts from Chengdu to Mt. Emei from 7:30 a.m. to 21:02 on a daily basis. As train types vary, so do their speed, with the fastest reaching 380 km/h.
The following is a regular timetable between Chengdu East Railway Station and Emeishan Station, and there will be additional trips during vacations and festivals.

At the exit of Emeishan High-Speed Railway Station, tourists can purchase entrance tickets, scenic train tickets etc. They can also take the sightseeing bus to Wannian Temple and Wuxiangang in the mid-elevation area or Leidongping in the high-elevation area, and then take the cable car or walk to Golden Summit. Tourists can either buy tickets directly through self-service ticket machines or book via the website of Ciotour (http://www.ciotour.com/) and pick up the tickets at self-service ticket machines.
The high-speed railway station is about 2 km from the entrance of the scenic area. Tourists can take Bus No.5A at the bus station of the exit (North Square), passing through Maluqiao Station, Tianxia Mingshan Station, Baoguo Tourist Transport Center, Emeishan Grand Hotel, Baoguo Temple and ending at Fuhu Temple. Operating hours are from 7:10 a.m. till 22:40 while the headway is around 8 minutes. Tourists may also take Bus No.8 at the South Square of the high-speed railway station and get off at Tianxia Mingshan Station to enter the scenic area. The headway for Bus No.8 is about 3 minutes.
The high-speed railway station is about 5 km from the downtown area. Tourists can take Bus No.5B and Bus No. 11 at the North Square or take Bus No. 8 and Bus No. 11 at the South Square to seek yummy food and beauties in the downtown area! In addition, taxi pick-up point is located at the left side of the North Square. Tourists may book taxis by phone at 0833-5534222 or 0833-5531555.
4. By Bus
Mt. Emei is 130 km from Chengdu and 30 km from Leshan. It takes two hours and RMB45 from Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station (028-85433609) to Mt. Emei or Leshan and the bus runs at every 30 minutes.
There are buses to Mt. Emei from Leshan Central Station and Xiaoba Bus Station. The headway, duration and fare for buses from Leshan Central Station are 30 minutes, 30 minutes and RMB8 respectively. What’s more, there are also buses directly from Mianyang to Mt. Emei.
There are two buses from Chongqing Caiyuanba Transport Center to Mt. Emei at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. respectively. The buses will stop at Chenjiaping Long-Distance Station, so tourists may take the buses at the aforementioned two stations in Chongqing. There are two kinds of bus tickets, with one for RMB90 while the other for RMB105. Tourists may return to Chongqing by bus from Emei Transport Center or Mt. Emei Scenic Area Transport Center.
Please note that there are two bus stations in Emeishan City. One is Beimen Bus Station, located in the downtown area, about 7 km or 10-minute-ride away from the scenic area, while the other one located in the scenic area. It is highly advisable to make sure the destination before getting on a bus. If you have wrongly got on the bus for BeimenBus Station, you shall get off and get to Baoguo Temple by taxi.
5. By River
Emeishan City is not directly connected to river courses, but it is just 30 km away from Leshan City, which is located at the confluence of Minjiang River and Dadu River and from where there are passenger ships to Yibin, Luzhou and Chongqing. There are many buses between the two cities, with the last one leaving at 6:00 p.m.
6. Self-driving
Mt. Emei is situated at a place of easy accessibility. A lot of expressways from all directions lead to this city. Wherever you set off, you can drive to Mt. Emei conveniently.
