Thailand Becomes Country of Honor at 3rd Sichuan International Travel Expo

The 3rd Sichuan International Travel Expo kicks off on September 23 in Leshan city of Sichuan province. Thailand is the country of honor and Meishan city of Sichuan is the city of honor. Both of them expect to take this opportunity to further promote their tourism resources. The organizing committee of the expo also hopes that Thailand and Meishan could promote the expo to achieve win-win outcomes.

Sichuan is a traditional travel destination for Thai tourists. Sichuan is also an important source of tourists to Thailand. Last year, more than 430,000 Sichuan tourists went to Thailand. The figure marks a rise of 47 percent compared with that of last year. Thailand has been in the top position on the list of overseas travel destinations for Sichuan people.

Officials from Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu,capital city of Sichuan province say that Thailand values tourism cooperation with Sichuan and they expect to deepen the connection with Sichuan in tourism.

At the previous expo, Thai Bashufu Travel Agency had one-to-one talks with several Leshan travel companies. Starting from April, the two places launched travel routines to each other's region.

The delegation from Thailand is led by officials from the country's Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Travel companies from Pattaya, Phuket Island, Samui Island, Koh Chang and Krabi attend the expo. There is a Thai pavilion at the expo. Thai tourism promotional events are also held.
